Mrs Jackie Peniche
My passion is teaching and witnessing children reach their full potential. I am a fully qualified teacher who began working with children as a learning support assistant in 2000 before moving on to complete a BA(Hons) in Primary Education at Middlesex University. After qualifying as a teacher in 2005, I worked in a London school with many children who had English as an additional language, before changing schools in 2007 following my move from London to Essex.
I have worked with children of various abilities which has taught me the importance of adapting my teaching approach to suit the individual child. It is of high importance that all children progress as a result of my teaching, but an equally important factor is the pupils' enjoyment within a lesson. It is vital that children enjoy learning; a child who is happy in a lesson is a child who engages fully in learning. My enthusiasm for teaching is often commented on in lesson observations, where I have been graded Outstanding by OFSTED and Local Authority Inspectors. However, the best outcome from any lesson is not a grade from an inspection, but that lightbulb moment when a pupil really understands something! That is why I teach.
I have had experience working in both Key Stage 1 and 2. I currently teach in Upper Key Stage 2, which means I am greatly aware of the high expectations of children as they make the transition to secondary school. I am frequently based at the higher end of the school to boost children so that they can reach the highest results possible in English and Maths. Within my role, it is my responsibility to continually assess and analyse my pupils' progress and identify any gaps in learning. From this, I cater my teaching to what the children actually need. It is also important for the pupils to recognise their gaps in learning and know what they are working towards so that they can celebrate in their success.
The expectations of young people is higher now than ever before and I know that Shine Brighter Tuition can help and support children so that they can become happy, confident learners.
Whether you are looking for tuition to support the 11+, Maths or English, I know that our passion for teaching will help children to reach their full potential.
Mrs Lyndsey Robertson
Hello there! I have been a teacher since 2004 and have taught in schools in a variety of localities. This has given me plenty of experience in working with children of all abilities and learning styles, and has ensured that I am adaptable and patient. As well as being fully qualified (PGCE - University of Gloucestershire) and CRB/DBS checked, I also have a degree in English Language and Linguistics (BA (Hons) University of Westminster).
My lessons have been graded, both in-house and externally (OFSTED and Local Authority Inspectors), as Outstanding.
Before recently moving to part-time hours after having a child, I was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and my role (as well as a class teacher in Upper Key Stage 2) was English Subject Leader. As part of this role, I implemented and monitored strategies to ensure that every child in the school made the progress expected of them (or more!) in English. I also guided other members of teaching staff and demonstrated the most effective ways of helping the children achieve.
English is my passion, and I truly believe that every child is capable of achieving here, with the right guidance. It is because of my love for the subject that I am able to inspire and drive children to reach their full potential. Each year of my teaching career, the children in my classes (up to 32 children) have met their progress targets, with many exceeding expectations. However, it isn't all about targets! The look of pride on the children's faces when they achieve higher than they thought possible is something indescribable.
Just because I love English, it doesn't mean that I am less proficient in other subject areas! I approach all teaching with the same enthusiasm and my classes achieve highly in all subject areas, including Maths and Science. I have a wealth of experience teaching Years 4, 5 and 6, and so have a great knowledge of the end of school expectations and how to achieve them. As well as this, I have also had the opportunity to teach across all primary year groups. My current role within school involves me teaching a number of different classes and small groups, as well as coaching other teachers.Due to my previous role as English Subject Leader, I am also aware of developments to guidance regarding changes to the education system.
I'm sure that together we can find a way to support, encourage and guide your child to help them Shine Brighter!
