Our Philosophy
Our philosophy on education and how we incorporate this into our sessions.
During our many years teaching in schools, we at Shine Brighter Tuition have had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of children reach their full potential. We know that every child is able to achieve, and to reach this point they need to have followed their own unique path to success.
All children have different learning styles, work at different paces, catch on to new concepts at different points and have their own personalities. This is extremely important when it comes to helping a child reach their full potential. Here at Shine Brighter Tuition, we understand this and know that a 'one size fits all' approach to tutoring is not helpful. Because of this, we adapt our planning and our sessions throughout your child's learning journey in order to ensure that we are catering to their developing needs. Whether your child is struggling to make the progress expected of them in school, are having difficulty with their basic skills or are achieving highly and need a further 'push', we are able to plan and deliver a suitable programme for their studies with us.
Being qualified teachers, we have had the opportunity to witness the outcomes of private tuition in our own classrooms and have identified what works and what does not. Far too often we see children who have worked with a tutor for at least a year (and should therefore be making ACCELERATED PROGRESS to their classmates) remaining on a learning plateau, with the tutor only working on areas that the children easily achieves, instead of challenging them to make their next steps. We also see tutoring schools where children are giving minimal input before being left to their own independent work for the remainder of the session, either on computers or by using worksheets. We know that these methods do produce some success over time, but nowhere near close to what can be achieved with a truly personal touch and interaction with teachers throughout the session. They can also be (so we're told) a little dull!
At Shine Brighter Tuition, we believe that learning should be fun, which is why we strive to use a variety of teaching methods, challenges, games and a balance of 1:1 and small group work. Children thrive on the input of other children and this is why we feel it is important to avoid the 'one adult and one child' in a room scenario. With at least one qualified, highly experienced teacher in the room at any one time and a ratio of a maximum of one adult to 4 children, you can be sure that your child will have the full attention of an adult and will experience a balance of both 1:1 and group tuition during a session. We've already seen great success with our small group tuition from children whose parents were initially somewhat dubious about this way of tutoring - we know it works!
Should you require solely 1:1 tuition, or would like further information about the way we work, please contact us for a consultation (see 'Contacts' link).
